BOSCARELLI WINERY: TUSCANY, ITALY

Meet Paola, Luca and Nicolò De Ferrari Corradi!

They are a family still deeply attached to their Ligurian and Tuscan roots. They describe Boscarelli to a person who doesn't know it as:  “The connoisseurs or the curious who approach the world of the super Tuscan will certainly find passion and integrity in our winery and in its wines, but also an excellence achieved by winemakers whose love for Tuscany continues to grow.”

We had a wonderful time wine tasting with this family, listening to their stories while drinking their deliciously aged wine.  This was one of our favorite wineries since it was such a personal experience... that we can only dream to open a winery of our own one day!

Lots of Love,

Anthony & Nicole

THE YELLOW DRIVE OF TUSCANY: ITALY

Driving Through Tuscany
Montepulciano (our favorite region)

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a red Italian wine made from the Montepulciano wine grape in the Abruzzo regoin of east-central Italy. It should not be confused with Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a Tuscan wine made from Sangiovese and other grapes (this may sound familiar from the previous post of our visit to the Poliziano Winery). Montepulciano d'Abruzzo covers a vast expanse of land in the Abruzzo region between the Appennines foothills down to the a few miles inland from the Adriatic coast. The region is one of Italy's most mountainous with more than 65% of all Abruzzo being considered mountainous terrain with the Apennines peaks reaching up to 9000 feet above sea level. The hillside vineyards planted on calcareous clay benefit from warm and significant sun exposure that is ventilated by dry breezes coming off the Adriatic.

Sunflowers bloom in Tuscany in the height of summer, anywhere from June to August, so we came during the perfect time! Our first glimpse of sunflowers during our road trip came from the highway as we drove from Naples to Florence. Although the views from the main motorway are limited by trees, off in the distance you can easily see acres upon acres of the yellow sunflowers. Even at a distance you know they are vibrant when they are these particular shades of yellow!!  While our week wine tasting through the various regions of Tuscany we often drove through the back roads, which were covered in bright yellow sunflowers!  During this drive through Montepulciano we decided to stop and run through the sunflower fields!  This was one of our favorite memories & an item to check off the bucket list!

With All Our Love,

Anthony & Nicole

POLIZIANO WINERY: TUSCANY, ITALY

The true taste of Tuscany!

Poliziano, Tuscany

Today was another beautiful day wine tasting through Tuscany
We were tasting, once again, through our favorite Tuscan region - Montepulciano.  Our stop at Poliziano Winery was spectacular!  We were welcomed with opened arms, and served wine after wine.  Wow, were the wines delicious!  Their wines evoke the historic tradition of the land, but at the same time speak eloquently to the modern world.

Poliziano Winery was born in the early 1980's.  They have retained their original labels, but have matured and evolved over time, always with the objective of uncompromising quality. The heart of their wines comes primarily from Sangiovese grapes, known locally by its historic name, "Prugnolo Gentile."  The Sangiovese grapes are our favorite!

We loved our stay at this special winery so much that we shipped home yet another bottle to add to our wine collection.  Our favorite wine was the VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO SELEZIONE "ASINONE"

The Nobile "Asinone" is the highest expression of Poliziano's production and the most complete synthesis of tradition and oenological innovation. Produced from Sangiovese grapes, this wine has an unmistakable style and distinct character, but it is, nevertheless, capable of holding its own in relation to international tastes.

Cheers from Tuscany,
Anthony & Nicole
